Agairya Heetrakshak Manch, is an organization registered as Trust and working for development of Agariya community in Gujarat. Organization was founded by late Dr. Vasant Parikh, who selflessly has his medical services to underprivileged people for over 5 decades in Gujarat. Later organization was guided by respected Arvindbhai Acharya, Great Gandhinan, who served Zalawad region of Gujarat, through his Ashram Shalas, and his literature. Both during their old age focussed on Agariya community, and became source of inspiration, motivation for us to carry on this work after their heavenly abode.
Today, Agariya Heetrakshak Manch, is associated with nearly 6 thousand Agariya families who farm salt traditional method, in Little Rann of Kutch or along the coast. Manch focuses on awareness generation, community empowerment, capacity building, linking with government programmes/schemes, advocating for a policy change in favour of community, enhancing their livelihood, health and Education.
In past 15 years, there have been significant improvement in Government services (health, education, water supply, welfare schemes) that are reached to work place of Agariyas, also we can see Agariya youths more aware and take initiative to make maximum use of the support available to them for betterment of their life. Today, AHRM is recognized as one of the key organizations that work at Grass roots, and thus hold membership in various important committees at district and state level, that decides upon development programmes for communities.
Entire credit of this achievement goes to dedicated team who is striving in scorching heat and shivering cold of the desert, as that of Agariyas. There is still lots to be done for Agariyas. The only difference that today, Agariyas themselves have started seeing the dreams for bright future for themselves and their next generation. They are taking initiative in making that dream true.
We are sharing some Activity Reports to give details of our work.
