Narmada Water Released in Rann

Narmada water was released in Rann and has affected near to 200 Agariyas. This problem is reocurring in past 10 to 12 years leading wastage of fresh water and damage to Agariya Salt farms. We raised this issue with administration, media supported it very well to show ground realities. Strong technical representation was made to government, as a result of which senior team had visitd Rann and will be giving detailed report with short term and long term solution.

Agariya Andolan against low price by DCW company

DCW company has been engaging Agariyas for salt farming since many years. However they are offering low price to the produce salt, as compared to prevailing prices of the season, This year price everywhere was Rs.350/tonne, while DCW company offered only Rs.140/tonne. When Agariya expressed their willingness to sell their produce to other traders, to which DCW opposed and threatened Agariyas of filing complaints against them, Agariya agitated against this exploitation. AHRM supported this Andolan. Finally on 11th of December, company had to agree to Agariyas demand and Agariyas could sell their produce to traders @rs.270/tonne.
